The video of awards ceremony HWTIFF2021
By Janie .H Nov 12,2021
On November 12,2021, Hollywood IWAA held an
online awards ceremony for Hollywood Women
-Themed I international Film Festival 2021 at 10
a.m. EST. Judges,awards presenters and a part
of the award-winning filmmakers attended the
online ceremony from around the world.
“Love and peace, wisdom and power, are the key
words of this festival,”said Margaret Sha,the
president of the festival organizing committee.
In addition to the “main competition”section, the
festival has added two sections,“Special Care”
and “My Perspective”,to encourage filmmakers
to care about life on earth and the disadvantag
-ed,while encouraging female filmmakers to think
independently and pay attention to the wider
world and life. “As a creator, you must grow tall enough in mind and spirit so that you can look down on the world from the clouds, but at the same time, keep your feet on solid ground and not separate
yourself from the ordinary life.“Margaret Sha hopes to expand women‘s voices globally through the festival
and promote the progress of women-themed films and
women filmmakers in general.
Hollywood IWAA has invited Giovanna to host the
awards ceremony. Giovanna is the CEO of Heart of
Hollywood,a jury member of HWTIFF2021.
Currently, the video of the awards ceremony is being edited and the winners list will be announced as the awards-ceremony video comes out.

Hollywood IWAA International Film Festival Chinese Awards
Hollywood IWAA International Film Festival Chinese Awards
The award ceremony for the Chinese Film Unit of the Hollywood IWAA International
Film Festival was held grandly on December 21 in Wyndham Garden Chinatown
NYC. This marks the first year that the festival has introduced a Chinese film category,
aiming to highlight the unique position and contribution of Chinese-language cinema
in the global film industry. The festival is dedicated to recognizing outstanding
achievements in Chinese-language films while fostering global exchange and
collaboration in the film and cultural industries. As one of the most influential
international film festivals worldwide, the 2024 Hollywood IWAA International Film
Festival not only focuses on showcasing cinematic artistry but also emphasizes cross-
cultural interaction and collaboration within the film industry. This year’s Chinese
Film Unit is hosted by Hello China and organized by Hello China Media.
The establishment of the Chinese Film Unit carries significant cultural and artistic
importance. It seeks to elevate Chinese-language cinema onto the global stage, paving
the way for broader access to international markets. As globalization deepens, cinema,
as a cross-cultural art form, has become a vital bridge for communication and
exchange between nations.
This unit provides an essential platform for showcasing Chinese-language films,
enabling audiences worldwide to better understand and appreciate cinematic works
from China and other Chinese-speaking regions. Through these films, viewers can
gain an in-depth understanding of China’s rich history, culture, social transformations,
and humanistic values. This effort not only propels Chinese-language films into the
international arena but also enhances global understanding and appreciation of
Chinese culture.
Furthermore, such a platform creates greater opportunities for filmmakers to connect
and collaborate with creators from diverse cultural backgrounds, broadening their
horizons and enriching their creative inspiration. Film, as a multifaceted art form,
thrives on the incorporation and fusion of diverse cultural elements. Through
interactions with international filmmakers and audiences, Chinese-language cinema
can absorb external creativity and perspectives, better understand global film trends,
and improve its artistic quality and market competitiveness.
The IWAA Chinese Film Award promotes the mutual penetration and integration of
Chinese and foreign cultures, contributing to the prosperity of the global film industry.
As more Chinese-language films gain international exposure, the position and voice
of Chinese filmmakers on the global cinematic stage are steadily rising, making a
positive contribution to the diversity of world film culture.
This initiative not only provides an international platform for Chinese-language
filmmakers but also presents global audiences with a more diverse and enriching
cinematic experience, fostering mutual understanding and collaboration within the
global film industry.
At this year’s festival, Beyond the Clouds won the Special Jury Prize, and actress
Hai Qing was honored as Best Actress. The film was recently selected for the
prestigious "Five One Project" Award for Outstanding Works, part of China’s 17th
Spiritual Civilization Construction initiative. This recognition underscores the film’s
artistic value and its profound social and cultural impact. Meanwhile, Tan Chui Mui,
director of Barbarian Invasion, was awarded Best Female Director for the Chinese
Film Award. Her film is scheduled for screening at a campus film festival in New
York next year, offering students and audiences a valuable opportunity to engage with
Chinese cinema and its portrayal of societal change.
Audiences will not only enjoy films from diverse cultural backgrounds but also delve
into the ideas and emotions embedded within Chinese-language cinema. For
enthusiasts of Chinese-language films, this event represents a unique opportunity for
cultural immersion. At the same time, it provides a gateway for broader audiences to
appreciate these films, thereby promoting the recognition and dissemination of
Chinese-language cinema on the international stage.
